Wooden Vs. Heating Oil

There was a time not too long ago that words “heat pump” and “environmentally friendly” did not go together at all. Heat pumps had a reputation for being horrible for the environment and for being a horribly inefficient means to warm and cool your home. All this has changed, however, thanks to government conditions for heat pump efficiency. The heat pump manufacturers have long since met these government regulations and surpassed them. Today, heat pumps are called the environmentally-friendly option for homeowners.

They take air and heat it or cool it to the temperature you need founded on the temp you’ve set your thermostat at. The techniques require an energy source to get this work done. Which means your central heating or cooling system needs the power from your electric system or petrol/natural heat system – sometimes both. It comes as no surprise to anybody with any of the systems the electricity used is critical. Running your heat and also your air conditioner can increase your power bill by hundreds of dollars each month. Besides being a drain in your wallet, the energy that they use along with these central systems are a drain to the ecosystem.

Now, consider heat-pump technology. Heat pumps do not use energy to heat or cool air to any temperature. Rather, they just shuffle atmosphere back and further. During the winter, heat pumps take the warm air from outside – and even if you can’t feel it, there is hot air within the air to the coldest days – and it pumps that warm air in your house before the thermostat reaches your desired temperature. During the summer, a heat pump works in reverse. The pump requires the heated air from inside of your home and pumps it outside, until the internal temperature reaches the desired level of coolness. Since the heat pump is not heating or cooling anything using electricity or gasoline, the energy operating costs are much lower. And since less energy is employed, the impact of running a heat pump is way less on the environment than running a central heating or cooling system.

All heat pumps aren’t created equal, yet. If you reside in an older home as well as your heat pump pre-dates the government rules, then it still might be really inefficient. Even new heat pumps can differ significantly in regard to their effectiveness. In Addition, heat pumps are not effective in climates with excessive temperature swings.

Things considered, however, heat pumps are ideal solutions for environmentally friendly heat and cooling.
