Battle of the Badges Recap: Clayton Fire vs. Police

Bragging rights were on the line as the Clayton Fire Department competed against the Clayton Police Department in the Battle of the Badges. It ended in a friendly 5-5 tie, a real “nail-biter” that showcased camaraderie and sportsmanship between the two departments.

The lively softball game took place at East Clayton Community Park (1774 Glen Laurel Road) on Sunday, July 7 where the crowd was treated to a double-header of sorts. It was a prelude to the Clayton Clovers baseball game against the Reidsville Luckies as part of Hometown Heroes Night.

Police, fire, EMS, and military personnel enjoyed free admission to the game, which also supported a noble cause – Paddling for Pennies. The organization provides emotional, physical, and financial support for first responders, active-duty military, and veterans experiencing hardships.

The Battle of the Badges proved to be a “home run” event, filled with fun, unity, and a shared commitment to supporting those who dedicate their lives to protecting others.
