Meet Us Monthly – Andrew Webster
It’s the first Monday in April, and we’re excited to introduce Firefighter Andrew Webster in this month’s #MeetUsMonthly feature. Webster has been with the Clayton Fire Department for about three months, diving into his responsibilities with enthusiasm.
His day-to-day includes checking fire trucks, ensuring the station is clean and ready, and responding to emergency calls. Depending on the day, he also participates in public education efforts, teaching groups ranging from daycares to nursing homes about fire safety.
Originally from Pittsboro, North Carolina, Webster grew up in the area and has spent five years in the fire service. Before joining the department, he attended Barton College where he played baseball for four years and earned a degree in Exercise Science. While he didn’t initially plan to become a firefighter, a personal tragedy – the loss of his brother – shifted his perspective. “It changed my outlook on life and what I wanted to do with it,” Webster shares.
On the job, Webster enjoys every aspect of fire service from working on different types of trucks (ladder, rescue, or engine) to preparing for the opportunity to drive them. “That’s one of the fun things to do,” he says with a smile.
He values the camaraderie within the department as well. “It’s a big family thing. Everyone looks out for one another.”
Outside of work, Webster embraces an active lifestyle. He enjoys exercising, hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, and spending time outdoors. He also loves hanging out with his dog, Lola, a sweet companion who’s always up for an adventure.
We’re proud to have Webster as part of the Clayton Fire Department and look forward to his continued contributions to our team and community.
