Meet Us Monthly – Earlece Hayes

It’s the first Monday of March, and we’re excited to introduce Firefighter Earlece Hayes in this month’s #MeetUsMonthly feature. Hayes joined the Clayton Fire Department just a couple of months ago and is eager to make a difference in her new role.

As a firefighter and EMT, Hayes responds to medical emergencies as a first responder, providing care until ambulance crews arrive, and tackles fire calls as part of the team. “I was watching the news and saw there was a need for firefighters,” she explains. “My family encouraged me to go for it, and I haven’t looked back since.”

Hayes brings a wealth of experience and determination to her new career. Originally from Texas, she served in the military for six years and then owned her own hair salon for a decade before entering the fire service. She completed her training at Johnston Community College, earning certifications in firefighting, hazardous materials, technical rescue, and vehicle rescue, as well as her EMT certification.

What drew Hayes to the Town of Clayton was the department’s reputation for excellent training and opportunities for growth. “I’ve heard so much about the training here,” she says. “It’s a chance to improve my career and really develop my skills.” Now living in Fuquay-Varina, she’s excited to explore Downtown Clayton’s dynamic activities and events.

When she’s not on the job, Hayes enjoys watching Chicago Fire for its inspiring stories of firefighter-paramedics. “I know it’s not real, but it’s motivating to see people helping others,” she says. She also continues her passion for hairstyling on the side.

We’re thrilled to have Firefighter Hayes as part of the Clayton Fire Department and can’t wait to see her thrive in her new role.
