Welcome Back to School: Drive Safely, Clayton!

Welcome Back to School: Drive Safely, Clayton!

School is back in session on Monday, January 6, and the Clayton Police Department wants to remind everyone to stay safe on the roads. With more traffic during school hours, it’s important to drive carefully and watch out for students, walkers, bikers, and other drivers.

Here are some tips to help keep everyone safe:

  • Slow down in school zones. Follow the speed limit and watch for flashing lights and crossing guards.

  • Stop for school buses. It’s against the law to pass a bus when the stop arm is out and the lights are flashing.

  • Stay focused. Don’t use your phone or anything else that takes your attention off the road.

  • Watch for bikers. Give them space and be extra careful at stop signs and traffic lights.

  • Give yourself time. Leave a little early so you don’t have to rush or make unsafe choices.

Whether you’re dropping kids off at school, heading to work, or walking near a school, we all have a role in making our streets safe.

The Clayton Police Department thanks you for helping keep our community safe. Let’s make this a great and safe start to the new year!
