Clayton Shares Pedestrian Improvement Plans at Community Meeting
The Town of Clayton recently invited the community to a public meeting to share updates and gather input on improvements to the Clayton Connector and South Robertson/Main Street. The event, held at Town Hall on Thursday, July 10, followed a come-and-go format, allowing residents, business owners, and homeowners to stop by anytime during the event.
Attendees reviewed detailed plans that focus on enhancing pedestrian access in Downtown Clayton. Planned improvements include sidewalks, curb and gutter installation, a multi-use path, upgraded intersections, and safer pedestrian crossings. These enhancements are designed to improve safety and connectivity for residents, students, and visitors traveling to key destinations such as Clayton High School, the US 70 Business Corridor, and popular local businesses like Deep River Brewing and Instill Distillery.
Town Council members were also present to listen to community feedback and answer questions from those who will be affected by the project. The input gathered will guide the next steps to make sure the improvements reflect local priorities and needs.
If you were not able to attend, more information is available on the project website at www.townofclaytonnc.org/918. The Town encourages everyone to stay informed as the project moves forward.
