The Clayton Center and the Town of Clayton commemorate Juneteenth 2025 with a free public performance of Jackie Robinson: A Game Apart, written and performed by Mike Wiley, on Saturday, June 14, at 3:00pm.
This gripping portrayal of the baseball legend provides a powerful lesson in courage through dedication, perseverance and leadership and offers a glimpse into Robinson’s life during a bygone era of separate and unequal locker rooms, whites-only hotels and restaurant back doors. Witness the humiliation of a star player showered with adulation on the field, but treated as a second-class citizen outside the stadium.
In addition to his theatrical work, Mike Wiley also serves as an Assistant Research Professor in the Program in the Kenan Institute for Ethics and the Program in Education at Duke University.
